Inflorescence
The Heliconia stricta, Oliveira's Sharonii,
produces colorful inflorescences with bright and shiny red-orange
bracts edged in yellow. Most people think of the bracts as the
bloom, but the true flower are stiff green, white tipped sepals that
poke out of the bracts.
The folliage of this plant is also very attractive with dark
green leaves with marroon undersides and midrib.
Heliconias belong in the plant family Heliconiaceae, within the order of the Zingiberales.

Blooming
The Heliconia stricta, Oliveira's Sharonii is a generous bloomer in summer.
Height
The Sharonii is a medium sized plant and

containers.
Habitat
Full sun to 80% shade. Moderately humid soil.
Cut Flower
The flower is great in a floral arrangement. Fresh flower will
last 7 to 14 days in clean water. In a floral arrangement, combine
with other red heliconias, red gingers, and calatheas.
