The Heliconia aemygdiana, an uncommon amazonian variety of heliconia, produces large and dramatic rose-pink bracts with bright yellow base and rachis. Most people think of the bracts as the bloom, but the true flower are stiff green and poke out of the bracts at various points.

The Heliconia aemygdiana is a generous bloomer in summer and fall.
A medium sized heliconia that averages 5 to 12 ft. in height. Can be grown in larger containers.
Full sun to partial shade. Moderately humid soil.
Flower is great as focal point in floral arrangements when combined with smaller heliconias and foliage. Fresh flower will last 7 to 10 days in clean water.
