The Alpinia purpurata, Rosy Red Ginger, a premium Alpinia, produces delicate flowers on an inflorescence of long brightly colored lavender-pink bracts.  Most people think of the red bracts as the bloom, but the true flower are small white flowers that eventually poke out of the bracts as they age.  This is an improved variety of the standard ginger used in the floral industry, it flowers generously all year round with a beautiful shape and color.
