Inflorescence The Alpinia purpurata, Pink Cone Ginger, also called Ostrich Plume or just Pink Ginger, produces showy flowers on long brightly colored red bracts. Most people think of the pink bracts as the bloom, but the true flower are small white flowers that eventually poke out of the bracts as they age. A standard ginger in the floral industry, it flowers generously all year round.
